Discover Flint: Flint Crepe Company

Need a reason to visit downtown Flint?  Well, I have one for you!  The Flint Crepe Company.  It will make you rethink downtown Flint.  Flint has an unfortunate reputation of being a run down city that is falling futher apart by the day.  I suggest that you stop listening to the news and discover downtown Flint for yourself.  I think you will be pleasantly surprised and just might start describing it differently.

This week I visited a new establishment to downtown Flint, the Flint Crepe Company.  Wow, what a gem!  As I sat inside, I got the feeling I have always wanted when I am downtown - the feeling of hip city life close to home.  There name says it all, their specialty is crepes, that is what they serve, and they do it well!  They offer crepes for every meal, from the egg and cheese crepe to the Reuben and everything in between.  It is easy to get caught up in ordering the perfect crepe, but don't to order a coffee.  My visit started with a caramel latte.  Starbucks, eat your heart out.....these guys know how to make a REAL latte.  I haven't had a latte this good in a long time.  Perfect from presentation to taste!

I could have sat there all morning enjoying the atmosphere while sipping my latte, but I had a crepe to try.  I choose the egg and cheese with spinach.  I was a little nervous, I have never had a crepe before.  As soon as I saw the delicious sight before me, I was just ready to dig in!  I now have a new love for the crepe.  The only thing it left me wanting was more.  The slight sweetness of the crepe mixed with the savory egg and cheese is divine.  I have already planned a return trip, because I am dying to try the 'Knickerbocker' - cheesecake sauce, graham cracker crumbs and strawberry jam. - yes, please!

There trick to having such fabulous food and drink?  Local, fresh, ingredients.  All the ingredients that go into the crepes, homemade sauces and 'fixings come from local farmers and businesses.  Just another perfect way to support lots of local Michigan businesses.

The only downside to my dining experience, if dining with small children, they currently do not offer highchairs. Luckily for me, my 14 month old was so busy eating the crepe that he didn't even try creep off my lap.

There is no excuse not to visit, they are open daily (Monday - Saturday) from 7am to 10pm and offer a crepe for every meal. When planning your visit to this great restaurant, consider visiting on a Tuesday.  Every Tuesday is Tip Tuesday, where employees donate their tips to a chosen benefit.  This weeks tips went to supporting the Michigan School for the Deaf dorm renovations.  Check out their Facebook page for upcoming events.
